OceanX rips Bill's Lake Apart!! (13/11/2009 @ 12:39:37)
A
special report now from Craig Ham, Jim Dickinson and Dave Armstrong who
recently enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to French venue, Bill's Lake. The
new lake record of 60.12 plus 4 other fifties were included in a haul
of 26 fish.
Craig said " It was an
awesome week.......26 fish out in total......a lake record 60, 4 x 50, 4 x 40, 8 x 30 the rest
were 20's......the fish were cr*pping the bait out all over the mats!"
According to the lakes owner this weeks haul is the best the venue has
ever witnessed in it's 8 yrs of being open! Successful tactic for the
trio was OceanX/Pink Peril Snowman rigs fished over lots of OceanX.
Well done lads!
We've always maintained OceanX will compete head to head with anything
currently on the market. The above catch report proves it in our
opinion.
Here's a few pics from the trip.

Catch Reports (05/11/2009 @ 17:02:32)
A few catch reports now. First up is Steve
Carrie with a 33lb Mirror taken on a recent trip to Cromwell Lake.
Steve used a Pink Peril Pop up to tame the venues latest new thirty
which he named 'Old Greg'!

Next up is the ever consistent Ollie Donaldson. Ollie has been
hammering his syndicate on a series of overnighters recently. A number
of twenties have fallen to his rods. The best being a 23lb PB Common.
Ollie is using a combination of SLK and Milky Malt Pop Ups to great
success.
One of Olllies 20+ Commons

New fieldtester Steve Nickson enjoyed success recently first time out
with the SLK. On a recent session on the notoriously moody Rainbow Lake
near Hull he took a 24.02 Ghostie.

Next up is Chris Dent. You may remember not so long ago he set the High
Park Syndicate catch record with 17 fish in 48hrs! Well he's been at it
again recently taking the lakes new record mirror of 22lb on the nose.
Chris used OceanX to make this latest milestone. This is his 7th North
East twenty of the season I believe.

Now it's quietened off a bit towards the back end the season I've even
managed to get out myself a couple of times! Fieldtesting some new SLK
pellets I managed to bag my syndicates largest resident at just over
thirty. SLK wafter, tipped with a small slice of PB candy stick over a
bag of SLK pellets did the business. Hopefully a few more fish are to
come now i've actually got time to get the rods in the water! The
pellets will be available soon and are sure to turn a few heads..watch
this space!
B1 Fieldtesting Reports (30/10/2009 @ 15:58:57)
A few encouraging reports have again been
trickling in from the Barbel Fieldtesters this last month. It seems
this latest version of the on test
Barbel bait 'B1' is becoming almost legendary very early on in it's
life. It seems to know no bounds with big fish from the Ouse and Ure
plus pressured stretches of the Swale, Ribble and Loddon already
falling for it's charms.
Biggest of the bunch has been Simon Haggis' 16lb 4oz cracker from the River Loddon pictured below.

Also getting into the fish in a big way is Rod Clarke from Lancashire
who has been having regular success on his local River Ribble.
Rod left this review on the site...." decided to try and catch a barbel in august and asked the
lads at DNA if they could suggest a boilie to try. They sent me a
sample pack of B1 to try with my order of MaltX for the carp. I went on
the Ribble and caught a five pounder on my first attempt, 3 days later
and I was back, another five pounder. I asked for and got more samples
and B1 liquid food. Back on the Ribble and a four pounder hit the net.
Went back on Thursday 15th Oct, with the last 3 sample boilies, the
river was very low and a bright day didn't bode well. Result, an 8
pounder in the morning session and a 12lb 2oz in the afternoon. Bait
used 14 x 18 B1 barrel, hair rigged on size 6 hook, coated braid hook
length, B1 flavoured hemp, and Minimix crayfish pellets. A big thank
you to Jason and the DNA crew"
Rod's cracking Ribble 12.02 barbel.

Nailed!

B1 is currently a fieldtest only bait and can only be viewed by
'Fieldtester Status Registered Members' on the website (in case you've
been wondering why you couldn't see it).
Have no fear though, the bait is very close to being released although
a final date has yet to be set. We are ideally waiting for the winter
floodwater conditions just to make sure B1 ticks ALL the boxes before
release. We've no doubt it will as the stuff positively oozes natural
attraction. I doubt there is a barbel swimming that will turn down a B1
barrel!
To accompanythe B1 Freezer Bait there will be a Dry Paste Mix, Hooker Sticks, B1 Liquid Food and Dumbell Pop Ups.
Sure to be taking your local river apart soon!

Thursday morning.
Latest Catch Reports (11/09/2009 @ 11:42:02)
Well it's been a while since the last catch
report but things have been pretty hectic here at DNA this summer. I'll
get straight on with it as there's loads to fit in!
First up is David Wetherall who recently enjoyed a fruitful session on
CarpVale Doubles day ticket water. In 48hrs he took 8 fish topped by
this PB 20lb 8oz mirror. Successful bait was the OceanX.
David Said
"Did 48hrs at Carpvale Doubles, 8 fish caught on one rod, Other rod CC MOORE
Score 8-nil to the OceanX
4 x 13lb
1 x 15lb
1 x 17lb
1 x 18lb
1 x 20lb 8oz
NEW P BEST!
Absolutely well chuffed with this range
My advice is try it!"
David's New PB

Next up is new Fieldtester Simon Haggis who has been putting the soon
to be released B1 barbel bait through it's paces. First trip out Simon
took a fantastic 12lb 4oz Barbel from the River Loddon on a B1 barrel
hookbait.
Simon's latest report
"Arrived at the river 5pm for the start of a 2 night session. Baited up
1 swim
with hemp, few pellets, and a few fusion boilies. I then baited up
another
swim further down the river that I would fish the next night - one
side with
a few of the B1 barrels and hemp then the other side of the river
Fusion and
hemp.
First evening I fished one rod on the Fusion boilie over the hemp,
and
another rod away from this spot with a B1 wrapped in your B1 paste, plus
a
bit of hemp, paste and 1 B1 barrel in a PVA bag. Both spots have
produced
good fish for me this season so was a decent comparison
test.
The B1 rod pulled round after about an hour into darkness and
resulted in a
12lb 4oz fish. That was it for the evening but a nice
start:
(Embedded image moved to file: pic14604.jpg)
The next
evening I again fished one rod on the Fusion boilie wrapped in
Fusion paste
over a near bank spot I had put hemp into along with a few
Fusion boilies the
night before. The other rod on the far bank was a B1
barrel in paste again.
This was a swim I'd never tried before. At 1.20am
the B1 rod slammed round,
had to fish that rod with a solid clutch as was
right under some trees, got
it into the open channel where it fell off.
Shame as would have been another
double.
The fish are far fewer but a bit bigger in the stretch of the
Loddon I fish
and I normally average 1 fish every 24 hrs, 2 if I'm lucky.
Over this 40 hr
session I had 2 bites both to the B1 and none to the Fusion.
Obviously a
lot could be down to luck and location but as a start the fish
liked the B1
without having seen it before."
Simon's 12lb Barbel

Mark Carver has been getting amongst the fish recently taking a 22lb
mirror on a Fruitylicious Pop Up during a recent trip to Pendle View in
Lancashire. He has also started to catch regularly on his local water
with fish to 24lb whilst testing the SLK.
On the same tricky local water, Jon (Secret) Bassham has also been
'having a few'. He's also testing the SLK which i never thought i'd say
due to his love of the MaltX Red! Jon has had some very nice fish
recently including the 'Roach Common' at 31.06, details of which came
in after his report below.
Jon's report "Please find attached pics of the 20.12 (day) and 19.2 (night). Caught on a
overnighter with a 17+ from "a tricky northern venue" All taken whilst
fieldtesting the SLK. Only the second proper session using the bait and the fish
responded extremely well with fish showing heavily over the baited area only an
hour or so after baiting up. Looks like the DNA lads might have come up with
another winner! Thought it would take a very good bait to drag me away from the
MaltX Red but this could be the bait to do it!!
Cheers
Jon"
Another angler catching a PB recently was Christian Hawksworth.
Christian took a 24lb Mirror on a PB pop up whilst on a session at the
Old Mill, Market Rasen.
Geoff 'tommo' Thompson is still having a few on his syndicate water,
best being a 25.08 mirror recently. MaltX Red doing the damage for
Geoff as usual.
Paul Buckross visited his local club water recently and had a 24.08
Common on OceanX. I'm not sure if this wasn't yet another PB!
Paul's recent Common

James Barr and his mate Jimmy have been enjoying a prolific time on
their local West Yorkshire club water with numerous fish to 22lb. The
on test Nutta has been the successful bait for the pair.
Now a report from Chris Dent who has been absolutely hauling recently.
First of all he enjoyed a very successful 36 hrs on the High Park
Syndicate lake in County Durham catching 17 fish!! This being a lake
record regarding numbers of fish caught. His catch included two 20lb+
commons. MaltX Red was the winning bait for Chris.

His next
session was at Newbridge Lakes in Hull where he enjoyed a 7 fish tally
over 3 nights whilst others on the lake struggled. Best was (yet
another DNA PB!) A PB 28lb 3oz Ghostie!! Stunning fish I'm sure you'll
agree. This time it was OceanX's moment of glory giving Chris a nice
dilemma now of wondering which bait to take next time he goes!
Chris' big Ghostie

DNA's own Jason Trought also managed to get out recently fishing the Carp For Cancer
charity match at Welham Lake organised by Andy Mansell. A cracking
weekend was had and an amazing £1000 raised for Cancer Research. Well
done to all involved! As far as the fishing goes, Jason ended up with
13 fish to take first place. SLK working it's magic yet again!
'Super' Kev Rogerson is still hauling. His best being a 23lb 8oz mirror
from The Aldermere Syndicate in Northumberland. Main lake top rod Kev
is testing the new SLK.
Kev Rogerson's 23.08

A very
recent report now from Mark Dunwell who's having a great time at the
moment using DNA Baits. Mark has just returned from a succesfull
session on Ravensfield where he had 5 fish in 24hrs including 3
twenties. The largest of which in our opinion is an absolutely stunner!
Succesfull baits were the PB and Pink Peril candy sticks.
Mark's stunning 23lb plus linear

Stonking Summer Deals (20/07/2009 @ 21:21:12)
Feel in a bit of mid-season lull? Weather too hot? Can't get inspired? Does this sound like your fishing at the moment?
We don't blame you, it's easy to fall into the rut once the warm
weather kicks in. You caught a few fish early on in the season but
things have slowed down a little on your current bait?
Well this is where we come in. Why not have a fresh start? Don't be a sheep!
We guarantee that applied correctly our baits WILL catch you more fish.
Have a change and lead from the front instead of being one step behind
the top rods on your water.
With DNA you can make sure that you head into Autumn fired up and full of confidence.
To help you on your way we're currently running some superb 5k / 10k and 20k POST FREE deals.
What are you waiting for, we can't catch 'em for you!
June Catch Reports. (20/07/2009 @ 19:25:43)
Yeah, yeah i know, late as usual! Apologies once again. I'll crack straight on i think.
Well, the carp seem to have done a hell of alot of spawning early this
month (about bloody time) but even so, plenty of catch reports dropped
into the DNA mailbox so they were still up for some quality grub.
First up is Kev Rogerson. Is there no stopping this man? During a 40hr
session on the Aldermere syndicate he proceeded to take 12 fish to
25.09 (his other target fish for the year) whilst testing the SLK. Some
catch you may think already...but wait till you hear that the lake
actually only holds 36 carp in total!! Awesome hauling Kev!
A couple from Kev's Aldermere haul

Next is a report from Chris Dent who enjoyed a great session on Raker
Lakes. Booking late, Chris was forced to take one of the less favoured
pegs on a busy lake. This didn't deter him though, as he still managed
to amass a haul of 6 fish to 21.04 on what was generally a quiet
weekend for the rest of the anglers fishing. The Mighty MaltX doing the
business once again. Chris has also been doing well on his local lake,
Stillington West Farm, taking plenty of fish recently with a best of
20.04, also on the MaltX.

May Catch Reports (11/06/2009 @ 15:43:03)
What a superb Spring we've had! With
temperatures soaring it saw many lakes stocks start to spawn early
though which put them off the feed for the back end of May.
Nevertheless, plenty of fish were caught on DNA products as usual and
I'll apologise in advance if I miss you off as there's been tons of
catch reports coming in this month. If I have forgotten about your
capture feel free to email me some verbal abuse and I'll make sure
you're included in next months update. Bribes are also accepted!
We'll kick off with the dastardly duo of Steve (Lil Steve) Carrie and
Wes Redman. Steve and Wes have been putting a bit of time in on some
local day only waters recently and reaping the benefits. The fish
haven't been massive but the feeding reactions they've seen to the test
bait, SLK have been tremendous. Highlights have been a pair of 18+ fish
that have obviously been around a few years. Both stunners I'm sure
you'll agree!

Wes
also managed to find time to sneak out a superb 26lb+ Common from the
Workshops on one of his short sessions using the MaltX.
Wes's 26lb+ Common

Next up is Rod Clark.
Rod recently enjoyed a great session at Pendle View Fisheries in
Lancashire taking 8 fish up to 23.07 during his stay. I'll let him take
up the story...
"Just got back from PendleView fishery after a 36 hour session,I used 14mm maltex
red bottom baits with 12mm maltex red pop up snowman style, eight fish two pb's
22lb 12oz mirror and 23lb 7oz common, outstanding!"
Rod's 22.12 Mirror

Over on Northumberlands Aldermere
Syndicate, Kev Rogerson has been catching again. This time he took his
target fish at 27.01. Kev used the SLK to tempt his target along with a
smaller double.
Kev's Aldermere 27.01

Back on the no publicity northern venue, 'Old school' legend Geoff
(tommo) Thompson took mirrors of 28lb and 17lb on the MaltX Red.
On a different no publicity venue (Yes i know, there's loads up north!)
Mark Carver eventually got into the fish, taking a 20lb+ stockie on a
Milky Malt pop up.
A report from someone we only know at DNA as 'Steve aka Fez the Ferret'
now. Steve recently visited his chosen lincolnshire venue for a 24hr
session and proceeded to take five fish including 3 twenties including
a stonking common of 26.02. All the fish came to Pink Peril pop ups.
April Catch Reports (09/05/2009 @ 12:48:30)
Sorry about the delay,
this time of year is always very busy for us and updating websites
becomes an unwanted yet necessary evil after a hard days graft so it
can sometimes get neglected. Anyway, what's that? less of the moaning
you say? OK I'll get on with the April catch reports.
Ollie's Session of a lifetime
First up is Ollie Donaldson. Ollie is currently testing the new SLK and
recently enjoyed a session of a lifetime (his words) on said bait.
Ollie has recently joined a new publicity shy syndicate and so far has
far outweighed his expectations for the season and it's still only
Spring! Previous sessions had resulted in commons to 21.12 but it was
his last session where it all went off. Fishing a 48hr session Ollie
turned up to find the fish all over his spots and it wasn't long before
he opened his account with a 19.04 common soon to be followed by a
smaller mirror. Another eight fish graced his net before he connected
with one of the lakes rarer caught lumps. The lake is renowned for big
commons so Ollie was more than chuffed to bag the lakes largest mirror
at 25lb on the nose. I'm sure you'll agree it's certainly an awesome
looking fish. No doubt there will be plenty more to come from Ollie and
the new bait!
Ollie's 21.12 Common Ollie's 25.00 Mirror

Elphicks Success
Onto
the next report now. This one comes from Chris Thornton and his partner
in crime, Stu. They recently enjoyed a prolific session on Elphicks
taking ten fish between them to a clonking 38.12! Chris sent me a
comprehensive catch report so it would be rude not to use it so here
goes.
"After a long hard winter i decided to book a
trip to elphicks in kent along with my fishing partner in crime stu.
Having never fished on this complex before we had little to go on other
than the odd catch report.
We arrived early hoping to get a choice of pegs...after a walk
round most anglers seemed to go for the top end of the lake which held
the deeper water...its only April but the carp were spawning and
thrashing around all over the top end.
After a quick chat with stu we decided on the bottom end of the
lake for a few reasons...We would be the only 2 anglers on that end
opposed to 8 to 10 on the other end so we had about a third of the lake
to ourselves. With a nice warm breeze blowing into our end of the lake
and all the carp spawning activity along with extra pressure of the
numbers of anglers we hoped a large number of fish would be moving in
our direction..
We bivvied up opposite each so we had the full end of the lake
covered. After a quick cast around with the marker rod we picked our
spots and set about baiting up.. We baited the open water heavily and
fished a rod each either side of the baited area...our other 2 rods
were positioned closer to the features..Island and near margins..All
spots were baited with DNA baits ocean x boilies. Around 30 to 40 baits
on each spot. 30
mins in and stu is of to a flying start when he latches in to a hard
fighting carp that fought all the way to the net..It turned out to be a
13 1/2 lb common. 40 mins later and he's into another hard fight
resulting in a 19lb 14oz mirror. A little time to catch our breath..A
couple of hours of inactivity then stu's alarm springs into life
again...another high double ups his tally to 3 fish. It seemed there
are plenty of fish in our area yet no fish have yet to fall for my
baits...It reaches mid day and at last my bait in the open water gets a
response and it tears of...A low double common and I'm of the mark...No
sooner was it released and i can see stu is playing another...i quickly
go to assist and cant believe it when i slide the net under an awesome
mirror that turns out to be a new p.b at 38lb 12oz...It s hard to
believe the way things have gone...a few more hours passed with stu
landing another mirror 15+ ...I manage 2 more mid doubles both
commons...All great looking and really hard fighting fish...At 6.30 pm
i get another one toner..this one really gives me the run around and
turns out to be a p.b common at 23lb4oz..The rest of the night is quiet
until stu gets another low double mirror in the early hours.."24 hours
out the way and 10 carp have graced the net....The next 24 hours were
the opposite as the lake goes earily quiet after all the action...We
put it down the the fish resting after the spawing and return home the
next morning...A great weekend was over...All the fish fell to DNA
OceanX bottom baits critically balanced with various DNA CandySticks...
Totals 10 fish.. 5 commons to 23lb 4oz...and 5 mirrors to 38lb 12oz"
Chris's best fish of 23.04 Stu's clonking 38.12

Other News
Another report now from a publicity shy northern syndicate so no pics with this one i'm afraid.
Phil Beck recently enjoyed a week off work and took fish stalking of
22.04, 26.04, 26.03 and 20.06. MaltX Red doing the damage on this
particular water as usual. Another member Kev Rogerson has also been
catching like it's going out of fashion this spring. Numerous twenties
and upper doubles gracing his net before he banked his target fish for
the year at 28.05. This was the one fish he was yet to catch so i guess
you can call it job done! Again MaltX Red wafters over MaltX Red was
the winning formula.
Phil Grimbley, a recent convert to DNA, was impressed when he caught
two twenties first trip out on Erics Angling Willows Syndicate. Here's
Phil's report....
"Was going to have an over nighter on a new
syndicate tonight with a mate but was let down..
So at diner time i decided to have a few hours on the willows. Went
with one rod with intention of fishing behind islands, was rather
pleased when i got there and the wind was blowing into the corner i
intended fishing.
Rod in for around 14:00 on same spot i had a 19 from 2 weeks ago,
little than a hour passed and she was away. i had the chestys on so
went in the water, lost the fish as i slipped into a hole deeper than i
thought, this gave the fish enough slack to ditch the hook!
Rod back out on same spot, 16:00 and she's away again, good fight,
it heads for a overhanging tree, chestys give me the chance to pull her
away. Its in the net 20lb 8oz.
Rod back on same spot again, around 18:30 it tears off, im on the
rod and gently slow her down, she lies heavy, just using her weight to
hug bottom. I gently make ground on her, and just as she is about to
hit surface, the hook pulls, i'm well p****d off because i'm sure she was
a real good fish.
No point crying, rod goes out again onto the spot, its only out
around 10 mins when it tears off again, spirited fight and the net goes
under her, she weighs 21lb 8oz.
Started by putting approx 1/2kg of Ocean x on the spot and putting
a good handful on it every 30mins, all fish caught on pink peril candy
stick, topped of with false corn.
Well happy, 6 hours fishing, 4 hooked and 2 twenties landed.
One of Phil's Twenties
Thornton's dry spell is over in style! (28/03/2009 @ 17:24:14)
It's been a while but
nobody can say he wasn't trying! One mild night in early march things
eventually came right for north east wine connosiuer
Chris Thornton. He broke his 2009 duck in style with a 27.04 mirror.
Rumour has it that this previously unnamed fish is to be called 'The
Helmut'...god knows why! What follows is Chris's account of the capture
from the tricky Wainstone's Syndicate......
"After a bit of a lean spell i had decided to go
back to basics. Got rid of all the silicon and shrink tube and just
went with a basic hair rig. Put out a tight bed of D.N.A baits Nutta
boilies and fished a chopped down D.N.A PB flouro pop up over the top.
What a way to end my barren run when the reel screamed off. Resulting
in a 27lb 4oz mirror"
Chris's well deserved 27.04 Mirror

PB on a Pink Peril (28/03/2009 @ 17:13:38)
The following catch
report details Lester Turners latest PB caught on a Pink Peril Pop Up.
The snippet says it all really so i'll say no more apart from
congratulations Lester!

Recent Catch Reports (11/03/2009 @ 19:27:54)
A couple of catch reports now from anglers fishing abroad.
First up is recently crowned YCSG Carp Angler Of The Year Steven (Lil'
Steve) Carrie. Steve enjoyed a welcome break from work during a long
weekend on the River Ebro in Spain. Steve talks us through his
catch....
....."Through FatCatz & FineCarp, we had 48hrs fishing and wanted every minute we could get.
We had the camp set, the rods ready for cast out so i sticked out
around 2-3 kilo of DNA Baits Ocean X, concentrating on were we could see carp
but not keeping it one area, rather spreading it along a large line
between 100-120yds from the bank. It was time for kip, to my surprise
the temp dropped to around zero and when i woke in the morning i could
not see a hand in front on me due to the fog, the carp had clearly
moved on to the line of bait as i could hear them. As soon as legally possible i blasted 2 single Ocean X 22mm
baits mounted to size 2s on 12" black silt, these both went side by
side and straight on top of were the fish had been, it was 20mins later
when the first rod roared and the rod had just been lifted off the rest
and the other one was away, i was more than shocked when after the
10mins commotion we were stood looking at an Ebro 40 and a 25lbr......
Job done.

Next up is Lee ' Splushcannon' Cocker who recently beat his PB during a trip to France with a stunning 31.08 Mirror. Lee
endured subzero conditions during much of the trip so his 4 fish catch
was extremely hard won in our eyes. The successful tactic was a piece
of PB Candy Stick fished on it's own on a sand bar at 125yds.
Lee's Candy Stick caught PB

PB Pop Up Nails New Wainstone's Record (30/01/2009 @ 19:47:16)
This report comes from
Stu, one of the lads on Mark Pitchers syndicate water, Wainstones. Stu
has been one of the lads hard at it over the winter and this capture is
reward indeed for his effort. The look on Stu's face says it all we
think. I'll leave Stu to fill in the details with his catch report.
"
